Like the full Sovereign, the Half Sovereign gold coin features the George and Dragon design and is manufactured by The Royal Mint.

This bullion coin is 22ct gold (ie 91.67%) and contains over 3.6g of fine gold. Half Sovereigns offer investors a small and easily tradable unit and have the added benefit for British investors of not attracting Capital Gains Tax, since they are technically legal tender in the UK. As with other gold investment products, the half Sovereign is also exempt from VAT.
